Billie Maurine Sisk Heffington went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 9, 2013.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 13 at Jaybird Cemetery in Parker County.
Billie was born July 26, 1946, in Parker County. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lena Sisk; brother, Donald Sisk; and husband, Gerald Heffington.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Parker and husband, Danny; grandsons, Jake Parker and Bowen Parker; sisters, Betty Lou Phelps and husband, Joe, Mary Sue Bailey, Jean Lundgren, Ann Stokes and husband, Jerry, Dena Conly and husband, John and Dale Henry and husband, Michael; and sister-in-law, Marlene Sisk.

Ronnie L. Smith Sr., 69, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, in Fort Worth.
The service was held Tuesday, June 11 at Walnut Creek Baptist Church, 220 W. Reno Road, Reno. Interment followed at Nelson Cemetery, 509 Nelson Road, Reno. Pastor Glen Wade officiated. Pallbearers were Charles Thomas, Keith Thomas, Johnny Thomas, Gary Flint, Phillip Freeman, Rick Stewart and Banty Blair.
Ronnie was born in Utica, Oklahoma to Raymond L. “Cooter” and Lillie Mae Smith. He honorably served his country in the United States Army.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; and daughters, Dora Ann Wright Thompson and Teresa Sage.
Survivors include his wife, Dorotha Nell Smith; sons, Ronnie L. Smith Jr., Robert Thompson and Kenneth Stanley all of the Azle area; sisters, Gwen Stanford and husband, Paul of Durant, Oklahoma and Janice Putnam and husband, Bobby of Lubbock; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, friends and loving nurses.

Byrne Culwell Moody 1921-2013

Byrne Culwell Moody, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2013 at his home in Azle.
Services were held Tuesday at The First United Methodist Church in Azle, 200 Church St, Azle under the direction of White’s Azle Funeral Home. Interment: Springtown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Cook Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Byrne C. or “B.C.” was born November 6, 1921, in Azle to Gilliam Byrne Moody and Beulah Culwell Moody. He was the third of four children, including Margaret Moody Hankins, Ruby Moody Sears and Ed Frazier Moody. He married Joyce Gilley on October 5, 1945, at First United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Mr. Moody was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corps in 1943 on a medical discharge and was then appointed as rural mail carrier for the City of Azle. Upon retirement, he ranched in Parker, Erath, and Hamilton counties before returning to Azle in 2004. Byrne C. was active in the Azle Volunteer Fire Department, Azle Lions Club, Ash Creek Cemetery Association, Azle Civic League, and a lifetime member of Azle First United Methodist Church with a dual-membership with Silver Creek United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of the Azle Masonic Lodge. Byrne C. was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Joyce G. Moody; children, Kathryn and Dudley Jones, David Byrne Moody, Lee Ann and Micheal Jordan, and Linda Overstreet; brother, Ed Frazier Moody and wife, Patsy Stroud Moody; grandchildren, Amanda and Sean Hope, Laura and Daniel Montgomery, Angela and Ryan Karnes, Sarah and Scott Donathan, and Timothy Byrne Jordan; great-grandchildren, Connor Scott Donathan, Allison Nicole Webster, Emma Rose Montgomery, Chase Alexander Hope, Carol Joy Montgomery, Evan James Karnes, Cage Byrne Donathan, and Pria Brynne Hope; also many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Jimmy Dwayne Conway, 52, went home to be with with his father and his Lord on June 17, 2013 in Midland.
Funeral Service was held Monday, at The Meeting Place at Ash Creek Baptist Church, Azle.
Jimmy was born December 22, 1960 in Lubbock, to Euleene Reaves Conway and the late James Thurman Conway.
Jimmy was a long time resident of Azle as a self employed carpenter prior to moving to Midland in 2012 to proudly work for Midland Safety and Health to make a better life for his family.

Jimmy lived everyday of his life to the fullest with an enthusiasm that is not usually seen in most people. He was always there ready to help anyone in need. He was a loving husband, devoted father. His children were his world and he was our hero.
We know he is at peace with his Lord and living in our hearts, he will be truly missed.
In Lieu of flowers donations are being accepted to help family with expenses.
Survivors include wife, Monique Davis; children, Hannah and Jesse; mother, Euleene Luke and husband, Luke; brothers, Wendell Conway, Steven Conway, Allen Conway and wife, Starla; sister, Teresa King; nieces, Misty Tarter and husband, Darryl, Mandy Hutchison and husband, Billy, Kealea Conway, Courtney Conway; nephews, Christopher Conway and wife, Shi; numerous other extended family and many friends.

Nathan Ray Pannell 1982-2013

Nathan Ray Pannell was born on January 30, 1982 and died on June 21, 2013.
Service was held Wednesday at White’s Azle Chapel. Interment was at New Hope Cemetery.
Nathan was a fisherman, an entrepreneur, and a lover of life. He loved his family and friends and he lived with a smile, a huge heart, and a passion for all that he did, and in turn he was loved by so many.

Nathan was preceded in death by his father, Fred Smith; his Pappy; and uncle Bobby.
He is survived by his wife, Meghan Pannell; son, Kollin Ray Pannell; mother, Robin and husband, Bryant Johnson; sisters, Lauren and Amber; grandmother, Syble; aunt, Tangy and uncle David; cousin, JD; and many more uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lillian L. Ellington 1924-2013

Lillian L. Ellington, 88, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment follows at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Lillian was born Dec. 13, 1924 in Ennis to Mack and Ida Huff. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, Ga. and was a devoted member of the JOY Sunday School class. Lillian was a devoted military wife and made happy homes for her husband and children at each assignment all across the country. She was very much loved by her family and friends and she was generous to all with her loving attention and care.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Clyde Ellington; and one cherished son, Jerry Mack Ellington.
Survivors include daughters, Judy Craig and husband, Bill, and Jan Townsend and husband, Ray; sister, Ann Winterrowd and husband, Earl; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Neva Docktor of Azle passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, in Azle.
Graveside memorial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13 at New Castle Cemetery off FM 251 in New Castle.
Neva was born Jan. 21, 1936, in New Castle to David and Myrna Bellomy. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Neva was preceded in death by her husband, Mike.

Survivors include her sons, Jim and Michael Docktor; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special family friend, Lee Wiley; and along with a host of friends.

Melba Ruth Greenwood, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

The graveside service was held Saturday, June 29 at Rochester Cemetery in Rochester.

Melba was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Greenwood; sons, Edwin and Bobby Greenwood; and daughters, Kathy and Anita Greenwood.

Marguerite (Kidder) Fuller

Marguerite (Kidder) Fuller, of Middle Avenue in Mexico, Maine and Azle, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 28, 2013, after a brief illness.
The memorial service was held Tuesday, July 2 at the First Baptist Church in Rumford, Maine. Condolences and notes to the family may be offered at www.meaderandson.com. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to the Azle Memorial Library or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Born on Granite Street in Ridlonville, Maine on Nov. 28, 1929, the daughter of Elwood and Ethel Kidder, Marguerite attended Mexico schools graduating from Mexico High School in 1947. She played basketball and softball in high school. She was married in 1947 to Leslie Fuller Jr. She was a member of the Junior Mothercraft Club for many years. When her sons were young, she was a Cub Scout den mother. She was member of the Mexico First Baptist Church for many years volunteering in different capacities. She also spent many summers at the family camp on Webb Lake in Weld, Maine. More recently, Marguerite was a member of the West Parkway Baptist Church in Azle. For the last 20 years, she and her husband divided their time between Texas and Maine. She enjoyed many friends and loved ones in the Azle, Springtown and Lake Dallas areas. She always enjoyed the music at the old Laundry-Mat on South Stewart St. and the music group at Truman Circle. One of her very favorite things in Azle was Mark Dean’s chopped bar-b-que sandwiches. An avid reader, she enjoyed going to the Azle Memorial Library. Anyone who knew her, however, knows that she did not love the Texas heat as she was from Maine. Marguerite loved watching the Little League Baseball and Softball World Series every August. She loved reading and was a member of the Café Book Club at the Mexico Library for many years. She passed that love of reading on to her children. She always said that one should learn something new every day. She was a fun and loving person. She will be missed by many.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth; and brother, George.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Leslie Fuller; children, Lynn Young and husband, Rusty of Homestead, Florida, Andrew Fuller and wife, Cathy of Westport Island, Maine, Bruce Fuller and wife, Mary Ann of Lake Dallas, Kirk Fuller and wife, Karen of Springtown and Lisa Yoder and husband, Tim of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Earl Kidder of Auburn, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

Milton was born March 22, 1937, in Fort Worth to Milton and Neta Powell Haggard Sr., they both preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Haggard; son, Billy J. Haggard; daughter, Debra Haggard; step-children, Sherry Lynn Kounce, Michelle Sherman and Richard Charleston; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Gwendolyn “Gwen” F. Hart, 84, of Azle passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, in Fort Worth.
Gwen was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Orange, California. She moved to Azle 24 years ago with her husband, Curt. She was a substitute teacher at Azle High School for many years and loved every minute of it. A year and a half ago, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s/Dementia. She was already living with her daughter and granddaughter who continued to care for her until the last 24 hours of her life. She was such a blessing and wonderful friend to many.

Survivors include her daughter, Jodie Nurmela; granddaughter, Hannah Nurmela; daughter, Sharyn and husband, Joe Buscaglio; granddaughter, Kymber and husband, Dean and their children, Preslee and Grace Douty; grandson, Josh and his children, Dominic and Jake Buscaglio; and close friends, Josie Greene, Jeannie and Jim Holmes, Debra Vines and Jerri Cobb.

Sadie was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Sterling City to Leon F. and Sally E. Wallace. She was loved and will be missed.

At Charlotte’s request, there will be no service and she was cremated.

Charlotte was born July 16, 1942. She was a beloved mother to Johnny Johnson, Theresa Anderberg, Barbara Coleman and Eddie Johnson as well as adoring Nana to five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She loved to read, laugh and play video games.

Martha Jo Maddux, our “sweet Mimi” went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, July 10, 2013, after a long battle with heart disease.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17 at New Hope Baptist Church, North of Azle off Hwy 2257 and New Hope Road.

Martha Jo was born Oct. 18, 1930, in Hope, Arkansas and raised in a little town, Fulton, Arkansas along the Red River. As a young woman, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Educators Insurance. After moving from from one state to another until finally settling in the great state of Texas, she worked in Fort Worth as an accountant for over 20 years and later moved to Azle where she retired for another 30 years. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Fort Worth and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She loved being outdoors and on the go. Martha loved fishing when you could keep her still and picking up aluminum cans at West Bay Marina along Eagle Mountain Lake for exercise and a little extra cash. She was affectionately known as “Mimi” by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loved ones and friends. She believed in following the Golden Rule and was loved and respected by many.

Survivors include her daughter, Denise Wilson of Springtown; sons, Buddy Smith of Fort Worth, Bobby Oller and Gene Oller, both of Fulton, Arkansas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved so very much.

Jon D was born March 26, 1958, in Weatherford to James and Louise Paschal. He married Dixie Roush July 19, 2001. He was a member of the Elk Club in Guthrie.

Jon D was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Dixie; daughter, Mindi Dorris and husband, Derek; son, Corby Paschal and wife, Lora; sisters, Debbie, Jamie Perry and husband, Richard and Patti Paschal and husband, Donald; brothers, Byron Paschal and wife, Paula, Rodney Paschal and wife, Shelia and Matt Paschal and wife, Susan; grandchildren, Dalton, Dylan, Addison and Kamryn; two aunts; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Judy was born Feb. 16, 1950, in Wichita, Kansas to Issac Edward and Velma Taylor Blunt. She worked for Coleman Manufacturing in Wichita, Kansas for 23 years and she loved the outdoors, traveling and camping.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Carl Carpenter.

Survivors include her spouse, Jessie Pittman; son, Kenneth Cross and wife, Coy; brother, Louis Blunt and wife, Barbara; and grandchildren, Natasha, Kile, Kaleigh and Sam.

Val Buren Nance Jr., 81, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18 at Ash Creek Baptist Church, 300 S. Stewart St., Azle under the direction of White’s Azle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Visitation will be held that morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

Val was born Dec. 30, 1931, to the late Val Buren and Ruby Elizabeth Hewitt Nance in Florence, South Carolina. He graduated from St. John’s High School in Darlington, South Carolina. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years on active duty from 1951 to 1955 and then in the reserves from 1955 to 1959. He met and married Eureta Jackson on March 9, 1957, and they raised two sons together. He received his B.S. degree majoring in social studies, minoring in English and Spanish from Howard Payne College in Brownwood. Val was licensed to the Gospel Ministry on Dec. 28, 1958. He received his degree in theology from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth with a Masters of Religious Education Degree. He pastored churches in Texas and Oklahoma and taught school.

Val was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Angallee Funderburk and Polly Ann Stokes; and brother, Robert Hewitt Nance.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Reta Nance; children, Jay Nance and wife, Mary and Jon Nance and wife, Mariza; grandchildren, Jamie Canales and husband, Sergio, Gavyn Nance and Ashley Oxborough and husband, Mike; great-grandchildren, Matyx Canales and Max Oxborough; siblings, Priscilla Nance Cribb and husband, Rufus and Samuel Angus Nance and wife, Jane; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
