Naomi L. Washburn, 84, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at her home with her family by her side.

Services were held Tuesday, July 16 in White’s Azle Chapel. Entombment followed in the Azleland Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Azle Retired Teacher Association.

Naomi was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Spanish Fort to Johnnie and Bessie Wright. She taught first grade in Azle for 26 years at Walnut Creek Elementary and Silver Creek Elementary. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and Johnnie Wright; and brother, Bill Wright.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Paul Washburn; children, Bruce Washburn and wife, Patricia, Arlon Washburn and wife, Ann and Livia Reasoner and husband, James; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Marion Wright, Robert Eltwain Wright, Elmo Wright, Avinell Ray and Nina Henderson.

Shelley Ruth Paiz, 62, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013.

The service was held Saturday, July 20 at White’s Funeral Home in Azle, 105 Denver Trail, 76020.

Shelley was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on June 30, 1951, to Albert and Lila Cox. She met Miguel Paiz and they were married on Sept. 19, 1984. Together, they raised three sons. She was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family’s well-being. She will be greatly missed.

Shelley was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Sharon Wheeler.

Survivors include her loving husband of 28 years, Miguel Paiz of Azle; sons, Robert Paiz of Azle, Lizandro Paiz of Fort Worth and Macedonio Paiz of Lubbock; grandchild, Malaki Paiz of Lubbock; brothers, David Cox of Iowa and Norman P. Cox of Colorado; and sister, Joylene Haskell of Iowa.

The graveside service was held Tuesday, July 23 at Azleland Memorial Park, Azle.

James was born Sept. 2, 1947, to Roy Lester and Ruby Lee Paschal Pack.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Sharon Kay Pack.

Survivors include her children, Robin Watkins and husband, George and Wade Pack and wife, Shauna; siblings, Jenny, Joyce, Britt and Johnny; grandchildren, Casey, Chance, Emma and Molly; and six great-grandchildren.

Marcus “Marc” Daniel Stepich, 29, died Friday, July 19, 2013, in Fort Worth.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 25 in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Azleland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 at Biggers Funeral Home.

Marc was born March 22, 1984, to David and Darla Noah Stepich. He attended school in Poolville and worked as a driller and derrick hand in the oil and gas field. He married the love of his life, Kortney Sosebee, and her son, Jaydon on Nov. 10, 2007. They added Saydee to the family in 2008 and Marc was quickly wrapped around his little girl’s finger. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors and spending time with his large extended family.

Marc was preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael and Millie Stepich.

Survivors include his wife, Kortney; children, Jaydon and Saydee; parents, David and Darla Stepich of Azle; brothers, Aaron and wife, Jamie and twin Michael; grandparents, Carl Noah and Tanya Burnett; Godparents, Marc and Lynn Powers; aunts, Martha and Bob Radecki of Newnan, Georgia, Carla and Steve Stutsman of Azle, Cindy Niamtu of Keller and Marla and Ron Willett of Azle; uncle, Bill Noah of Fort Worth; parents-in-law, Billy and Darla Sosebee of Weatherford; sister-in-law, Kendra and Kevin Reeves of Weatherford; nieces and nephews, Madison, Caine, twins Kyle and Kate and Wyatt; cousins, Lexie, Mandi, Johna, Leah, Johnathan, Jack, ChelleBea, Kaitie and Paul; and a multitude of extended family and friends he loved dearly.

Florence M. Riddell, 96, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 in Weatherford.

Florence was born April 3, 1917, to Andrew and Mary Tucker in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She worked numerous years for the City of Azle as Assistant City Secretary.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Boardman and husband, Richard of Weatherford; son, Richard W. Riddell and wife, Sandy of Big Spring; grandchildren, Lisa Maldonado, Brad Boardman, Leslie O’Neal, Mary Lynn Miller, Kellee Riddell,

Margie Faye Winkles, 90, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, in Azle.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at First Presbyterian Church in Mineral Wells under the direction of White’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Burkburnett Cemetery in Burkburnett. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 at Whites Funeral Home, 101 N.E. 4th Ave, Mineral Wells, Texas. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Wells or the Millsap Garden Club.

Margie was born Sept. 4, 1922, to the late J.D. and Atcie Guthrie Adkins in Electra. She married Carl E. Winkles on April 7, 1945, in Waurika, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Wells. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper.

Margie was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Winkles; and brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Carlene Winkles; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard “Randy” E. Randall, of Azle passed away Friday, July 26, 2013.

Interment will be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery with military honors.

Randy spent 40 years serving his country by military service in the Navy and Army Reserves, and then by working for the Air Force with the Department of Defense.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty; son, Brian (Donna) Randall, a retired Navy veteran of Weatherford; brother, Robert (Mary) Randall, also a Navy veteran of Fort Myers, Florida; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.… Read the rest

Joyce M. Lewis, 62, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2013.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Biggers Funeral Home.

Joyce was born Oct. 11, 1950, in Fort Worth to Eddie and LaRue Faulkner. She was a lifelong area resident and attended Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School. She was an administrative assistant for Lockeed-Martin for 24 years before her retirement in 2011. She loved playing with her grandchildren and watching QVC Shopping Network.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Gaylyn Faulkner.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Ralph D. Lewis of Azle; daughter, Lisa D. Silva and husband, James of Azle; brother, Billy Faulkner and wife, Dixie of Azle; sister, Betty Raley and husband, Oran of Watauga; grandchildren, Ryan, Torey, Cameron and Brittnee Silva; and great-grandchild, Hayden Silva.

James Lewis Duke, 70, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, in Weatherford.

The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 in Azleland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Biggers Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3301 West Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas 76107.

Mr. Duke was born Oct. 14, 1942, in Dallas. He served in the United States Navy from 1960-1964 aboard the destroyer USS William C. Lawe. He retired from Bell Helicopter in Oct. 2002 after 37 years of service.

Mr. Duke was preceded in death by his wife, Betty E. Duke on May 12, 2012; and brother, Collin Woodrow Duke.

Survivors include his children, Daniel Duke and wife, Paige of Bedford, Wendy Duke Ayers and husband, Ric and Kim Ubinger and husband, Jim of Azle; sister, Faye Brooks of Bedford; grandchildren, Amber Ubinger, Collin L. Duke, Alexandra Duke and Collin “C.J.” Ayers; lifetime “Best Friend,” Vernon Neal; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Freida was preceded in death by her father, CW Darter.

A memorial service will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 26 at her home church, First Baptist Church, 1017 Boyd Rd, Azle. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be sent to Scottish Rite Hospital, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas, TX 75219 in Mary Sue’s honor.

Born Dec. 10, 1936, in Dallas, Mary lived many places but settled in Azle. She spent many years in fellowship at First Baptist Church in Azle and her family is grateful to those who helped her during her time there. She was a hard working, spirited and loving mother who spent her life doting on her growing family.

Mary was preceded in death far too soon by her daughters, Arlene Egger and Sandra Griffin; and sons, Bobby Ross and Sammy Ross.

Mary leaves behind her sons, David Overstreet and Charles Overstreet; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, Aug. 16 at The Azle Church of Christ under the direction of White’s Azle Funeral Home. Interment was in Azleland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Azle Church of Christ.

Nell was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Fluvanna to the late Morris and Docia Huling. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, attending her last years at the Azle Church of Christ. She loved working in her yard, gardening, fishing, quilting and playing dominoes. She enjoyed cooking and hosting friends and family in her home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her beautiful smile and generous heart.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Bates in 2009; eight brothers and sisters; and grandson, Clayton King.

Survivors include her son, Dwain Bates and wife, Kim of Azle; daughters, Lana Willingham and Kathy Cleveland and husband, Dale all of Azle; grandchildren, Malissa Hermann, Angela Pitts, Lance Bates, Jason Bates, Jarrod Cleveland, Chris Willingham and Colton

Cleveland; ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.

Brad was born Aug. 23, 1971, in Fort Worth to Larry and Pam Spigler. He graduated from Azle High School and attended Howard Payne University where he played basketball.

Brad was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, George and Verna Spigler and Dallas Teeters.

Survivors included his daughters, Kylie and Karly Spigler; mother, Pam Spigler; sister, Stevie Arledge and husband, Scott; grandmother, Ida Lewis; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Wilmot “Billie” Jane Patton Swan left this earthly world to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 in Azle.

A Memorial Service will be conducted for the celebration of Billie’s life at the First United Methodist Church, 200 Church Street, Azle, TX 76020, 817-444-3323. The service will begin at 2:30 p.m. on August 31, 2013, with Dr. Scott Youngblood officiating. A full reception will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church of Azle, attention Swan Memorial Fund, 200 Church Street, Azle, TX 76020 and/or Solaris Hospice of Decatur, 2250 S FM 51, Suite 400, Decatur, TX, 76234 (940-627-1011).

Billie was born on August 16, 1919 in Waynesburg, PA and resided there until marrying Curtis E “Gene” Swan, August 10, 1941.

She was an accomplished china painter/artist, a volunteer for Breast Cancer victims and many other needs, and was active as an officer’s wife while the family served in the USAF with many foreign and domestic assignments. She was always giving of herself, time, and her love.

She was committed to her church, wherever they were stationed or resided. She and her husband finally settled in San Antonio, TX when her husband retired from the USAF in 1960. Gene served his country for over 40 years. Billie moved to Wimberley, TX to be near her daughter, Bonnie, from 2005 to 2010 and then moved to be nearer to her son, Patrick, and his family in 2010.

Billie is pre-deceased by her husband, Gene, and son, Curtis “Curt” E. Swan, II.

Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie L. Wilson of Austin; daughter-in-law Kathy Swan of Cheyenne, WY; son, Patrick Alexander Swan of Azle and wife Susan; four grandchildren (ranging in age from 47 years to 18 years old); eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
